Dzerzhinsky
Felix Dzerzhinsky was a Polish-born revolutionary who played a key role in establishing Soviet security and intelligence organizations. He founded the Cheka, the Soviet secret police formed after the Russian Revolution in 1917, which was responsible for enforcing Bolshevik policies and suppressing opposition. Dzerzhinsky believed in strict, often harsh measures to protect the revolution’s goals. His work helped shape Soviet internal security, but also involved controversial and brutal tactics. His legacy remains complex, as he is seen both as a dedicated revolutionary and as a figure associated with repression and political violence.
