Dyfed

Dyfed was an administrative region in Wales, existing from 1974 to 1996 before becoming part of the current unitary authorities. It encompassed parts of southwest Wales, including areas like Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and Ceredigion. Named after a historic kingdom, Dyfed served as a local government area responsible for services such as education, transportation, and planning during its existence. Today, its former boundaries are divided into smaller, more localized councils, but the name Dyfed remains culturally significant and is still used to refer to the region's historical and geographical identity.
