Duration neglect

Duration neglect is a psychological phenomenon where people's overall judgment of an experience is not strongly influenced by how long it lasted. Instead, their memory and evaluation are mainly affected by the most intense moment and the final moments of the experience. For example, a painful but brief procedure may be remembered more negatively than a longer one, because of the painful peak and end, regardless of the total duration. This means people often underestimate or overlook the effect of how long an event occurred when recalling or judging it.
