Duleep Singh
Duleep Singh was a 19th-century Indian prince and the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire. Born in 1838, he was taken to Britain as a young boy after his father was defeated by the British, and he was raised there under British influence. Despite his royal status, his sovereignty was later taken away, and he became a British subject. Duleep Singh is known for his complex identity—caught between his Sikh heritage and British upbringing—and for his later activism, advocating for Indian independence and Sikh causes.
