Duke Richard I of Normandy
Duke Richard I of Normandy, also known as Richard the Fearless, was a prominent medieval leader who ruled from 942 until his death in 996. He was notable for consolidating power in the region of Normandy, in present-day France, and for fostering its independence from the French crown. Richard is remembered for his strategic marriages and alliances, which strengthened his position. His lineage led to the eventual establishment of the Norman dynasty, including his great-grandson William the Conqueror, who would later change the course of English history by conquering England in 1066.
