
Duke Charles III of Lorraine
Duke Charles III of Lorraine (1543–1608) was a nobleman and ruler of the Duchy of Lorraine, a region in what is now eastern France. Known for his leadership during a period of religious and political upheaval in Europe, he sought to maintain stability and neutrality amid conflicts like the Reformation and the wars of religion. Charles III was also involved in diplomatic efforts and sought to strengthen his territory’s standing through alliances and strategic marriages.
