Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS)
Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive breast cancer where abnormal cells are found in the milk ducts but have not spread to nearby breast tissue. It’s often detected through mammograms and generally has a good prognosis. While it isn’t life-threatening, DCIS can increase the risk of developing invasive breast cancer later. Treatment options typically include surgery, radiation therapy, and sometimes medication, depending on individual risk factors and preferences. Early detection and treatment are important for preventing the progression of DCIS into more serious conditions.
