Dual-System Theory
Dual-System Theory suggests that our thinking operates through two different processes: System 1 and System 2. System 1 is fast, automatic, and intuitive—like instantly recognizing a friend's face or catching a ball. System 2 is slow, deliberate, and effortful—like solving a complex math problem or making a thoughtful decision. Both systems influence our behavior, but they function differently. Recognizing these can help explain why sometimes we make quick, intuitive choices and other times we need to pause and analyze carefully.
