Dual-energy techniques involve using two different energy levels of X-rays to analyze an object or body. By capturing images at both energies, these methods can distinguish materials based on how they absorb X-rays differently—similar to how different materials have unique fingerprints. This approach improves the ability to identify and differentiate between tissues, bones, or other substances, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and material characterization. It is commonly used in medical imaging, such as distinguishing between calcium and soft tissue, or in security scans to differentiate materials like plastics from organics.
