DSM (Digital Surface Model)
A Digital Surface Model (DSM) is a digital representation of the Earth's surface that includes all natural and built features, such as trees, buildings, and other structures. It is created using satellite or aerial imagery and laser scanning technologies, providing a detailed 3D map of the topmost surfaces. DSMs are used in urban planning, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure development to understand the height and shape of landscape features. Unlike ground models that capture the bare earth, DSMs focus on the visible surface, making them valuable for assessing heights and volumes of structures and natural features.
