DSLAM Types
A Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplier (DSLAM) is a device that aggregately connects multiple customer DSL lines to a high-speed data network. There are mainly two types: centralized DSLAMs, located at the telephone company's central office, serving many customers over a wide area; and remote DSLAMs, placed closer to customers in neighborhood cabinets, reducing signal loss and improving speeds. Centralized units manage multiple connections in bulk, while remote units help bring faster internet access directly to local areas. Both types facilitate efficient, high-speed internet and voice services over traditional phone lines.
