Drywood termites
Drywood termites are a type of wood-dwelling insect that infest and feed on wood, causing structural damage. Unlike subterranean termites, they don’t need soil contact; they live entirely within their wood source. These termites typically infest dry, sound wood, including furniture and structural beams, creating small, rounded holes for exit. Their colonies are smaller and grow more slowly than subterranean termites. Signs of infestation include frass (window-like sawdust), hollowed-out wood, and small exit holes. Effective control often requires professional treatment to eliminate the colony and prevent significant damage.
