Dry plate process

The dry plate process was an early photographic technique developed in the late 19th century. It used glass plates coated with a dry, gelatin-based emulsion containing light-sensitive chemicals. Unlike earlier wet processes that required immediate development, dry plates could be prepared in advance and stored for later use. When exposed to light through a camera, the chemicals reacted to create an image. The plates could be developed later in a laboratory, making photography more convenient and accessible. This advancement paved the way for modern photography by simplifying and speeding up the process compared to previous methods.
