Drosha
Drosha is an enzyme found in cells that plays a key role in processing genetic information. It helps create small RNA molecules called microRNAs (miRNAs) by cutting long, primary RNA transcripts into shorter, workable pieces. These microRNAs are important because they regulate gene expression, influencing how cells function and develop. Essentially, Drosha acts like a molecular pair of scissors, trimming RNA to produce molecules critical for controlling the activity of genes within the cell.
