Dromon (warship)
The dromon was an ancient Christian warship used primarily by the Byzantine Empire from the 4th to the 15th century. Designed for sea battles, it featured a long, narrow hull, and was equipped with oars and sails for propulsion. The ship had a prominent bow called the "spur," used for ramming enemy vessels, and was armed with a variety of weapons including arrows, stones, and early Greek fire—a flammable liquid for burning enemy ships. Its design allowed for maneuverability and resilience during combat, making it a versatile and effective vessel in Mediterranean naval warfare for centuries.
