Droit civil
Droit civil, or civil law, is a branch of law that governs the relationships and obligations between individuals and organizations. It covers areas such as contracts, property rights, family law (marriage, divorce, inheritance), and personal rights. The goal is to resolve disputes fairly and ensure that people’s rights and responsibilities are protected. Civil law systems are characterized by comprehensive legal codes that provide clear rules and procedures. Unlike criminal law, which deals with offenses against the state, civil law focuses on private matters and the lawful resolution of conflicts between parties.
