Drevniy Yerevan (Ancient Yerevan)
Drevniy Yerevan, or Ancient Yerevan, refers to the early settlements in what is now the Armenian capital, dating back to at least the 8th century BCE. It became a prominent city under the Arsacid Empire around the 1st century BCE, serving as a key cultural and trade center. Archaeological findings reveal ancient temples, fortifications, and artifacts, illustrating Yerevan's long-standing significance in the region. Although the modern city of Yerevan was officially founded in 782 CE, its roots trace back over two millennia, highlighting its historical importance as a hub of Armenian civilization and heritage.
