Dredge No. 4
Dredge No. 4 was a large, steam-powered machine used in the early 20th century to extract gold from placer deposits in the Klondike region of Yukon, Canada. It operated by burrowing into the riverbed with its powerful scoop bucket, scooping up gravel and sediment containing gold. The machine would then wash and process this material, separating the valuable metal from the unwanted debris. Dredge No. 4 became one of the largest and most efficient dredges of its time, significantly boosting gold production during the Klondike Gold Rush era while also leaving a lasting impact on the landscape.
