Draize test

The Draize test is an animal safety assessment used to evaluate the potential irritation or damage caused by substances like cosmetics or chemicals to the eyes. Typically, it involves applying small amounts of the substance to the eyes of rabbits and observing any signs of redness, swelling, or injury over time. The goal is to measure how harmful or irritating the substance might be to human eyes. While historically common, concerns about animal welfare have led to the development of alternative testing methods.
