Dragoons
Dragoons were a type of military cavalry unit that originated in the 17th century. Unlike traditional cavalry, which primarily fought mounted, dragoons were trained to fight on foot as well. The term "dragoon" originally referred to a type of firearm that these soldiers carried. Over time, dragoons became known for their versatility, able to engage in both mounted and dismounted combat. They played significant roles in various European wars and later in colonial conflicts, contributing to the evolution of modern cavalry and military tactics. Today, the term is often associated with specific regiments in various armies.
