Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese celebration held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It commemorates the poet and statesman Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest corruption. People celebrate by racing vividly decorated dragon-shaped boats, which symbolize strength and unity. The festival also features eating zongzi—sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves—and other cultural activities. It is a time for honoring traditions, family, and community, blending historical remembrance with vibrant festivities.
