DR5

DR5, or Death Receptor 5, is a protein found on the surface of some cells that plays a key role in regulating cell death, known as apoptosis. When certain signals or molecules, such as TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand), bind to DR5, it triggers a series of events inside the cell that lead to its controlled destruction. This process is vital for maintaining healthy tissue function and preventing the development of diseases like cancer, by allowing the body to remove damaged or unwanted cells. Essentially, DR5 acts as a molecular "kill switch" for cell regulation.
