Dr. Verghese Kurien was an Indian scientist and social entrepreneur who revolutionized dairy farming in India. Known as the "Father of the White Revolution," he developed a systematic approach to milk production, processing, and distribution, making milk affordable and accessible nationwide. He founded the Dairy Cooperative Movement, notably the Amul cooperative, empowering millions of farmers, especially small-scale producers. His efforts significantly increased milk production, improved rural livelihoods, and set a model for agricultural development. Kurien’s work transformed India from a milk-deficient country into one of the world's largest milk producers, fostering rural prosperity and economic growth.
