Dr. John Draper

Dr. John Draper, also known as "Captain Crunch," is a pioneering figure in computer hacking and phone phreaking. In the 1970s, he discovered that a toy whistle included in a Cap'n Crunch cereal box could produce a tone that mimicked phone system signals, enabling him to manipulate the telephone network for free calls. His experiments helped reveal vulnerabilities in telecommunication systems and contributed to early hacking culture. Draper’s work highlighted both the possibilities and security flaws of communication networks, influencing the development of hacking techniques and cybersecurity awareness.
