Dr. Dora Kalff

Dr. Dora Kalff was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist known for developing Sandplay Therapy, a form of expressional therapy using miniature figures and sand to explore unconscious thoughts and emotions. Influenced by Carl Jung’s work on the unconscious and symbolism, she believed that creating scenes in a sandbox could help individuals, especially children, process complex feelings and experiences without words. Her approach fosters self-awareness, healing, and integration by allowing the subconscious to emerge naturally through symbolic play, making therapy accessible and effective for diverse ages and backgrounds.
