Dr. Bruce Yuzpe

Dr. Bruce Yuzpe was a Canadian obstetrician and gynecologist known for developing an early form of emergency contraception in the 1970s. His method involved taking existing oral contraceptive pills after unprotected sex to reduce the chance of pregnancy. This approach, known as the Yuzpe regimen, was a significant advancement in reproductive health, offering women a way to prevent pregnancy after contraceptive failure or unprotected intercourse. Although newer, more effective methods have since been developed, his work laid the foundation for modern emergency contraception practices.
