Doug Coombs was a renowned American professional skier and mountaineer known for pushing the limits in extreme skiing, especially in challenging mountain terrains like the Chugach Range in Alaska. He combined his skills in skiing and mountaineering to explore and descend some of the world’s most difficult and dangerous snow and ice-covered mountains. Coombs was admired for his adventurous spirit, technical expertise, and contributions to the sport. Tragically, he died in 2006 during a rescue mission after an accident while skiing. His legacy lives on as a trailblazer in extreme sports and mountain exploration.
