Double play
A double play is a defensive move in baseball where the team in the field records two outs during a single continuous play. This typically occurs when a batter hits the ball, and the fielders quickly work together to remove two base runners or batters before the opposing team can advance or score. The most common double play involves a line drive caught by an infielder, who then quickly throws the ball to a baseman covering a base to tag or force out a runner. Double plays are valuable because they reduce the offensive team's opportunities in an inning.
