Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex
The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is a part of the brain located in the front and side regions of the prefrontal cortex. It plays a key role in high-level thinking skills such as problem-solving, planning, decision-making, and managing attention. The DLPFC helps us stay focused, organize tasks, and control impulses. It also contributes to working memory, which allows us to hold and manipulate information in our minds temporarily. Essentially, this area acts as a mental control center, enabling us to think ahead, plan actions, and adapt to new situations effectively.
