Dorian mode
Dorian mode is a type of musical scale that resembles a natural minor scale but with a raised sixth note. It has a mellow, jazzy sound often found in blues and modal jazz. Starting on the second note of a major scale, Dorian has a minor third and minor seventh, giving it a minor quality, but the raised sixth adds a unique brightness. For example, D Dorian uses the notes of the C major scale (C-D-E-F-G-A-B) starting from D. This mode provides a balanced, somewhat soulful sound that’s versatile across various musical styles.
