Doreen Valiente
Doreen Valiente (1922-1999) was a pivotal figure in modern Wicca, a contemporary pagan religious movement. Often called the "Mother of Wicca," she played a crucial role in shaping its practices and beliefs in the mid-20th century. Valiente is best known for her work in developing rituals, poetry, and the Wiccan Rede, a key ethical guideline for witches. She collaborated closely with Gerald Gardner, the founder of Wicca, helping to establish its foundations. Her writings and philosophy have significantly influenced the practice of Wicca and contemporary paganism, promoting a deeper understanding of nature, spirituality, and personal empowerment.
