Doolittle Raid
The Doolittle Raid, launched on April 18, 1942, was a pivotal airstrike by the United States during World War II. Led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, it involved 16 B-25 bombers targeting Tokyo and other cities in Japan. This was the first U.S. attack on Japan after the Pearl Harbor attack, aiming to boost American morale and demonstrate that Japan was vulnerable to American air power. Although the damage was limited, the raid significantly affected Japanese military strategy and bolstered U.S. confidence early in the war. It also showcased the bravery of the American military.
