Donor atoms
Donor atoms are atoms within a molecule or compound that can donate electrons to other atoms during chemical reactions, especially in the formation of bonds. Think of them as sources that provide electrons, helping to establish stable connections with other atoms that accept these electrons (acceptor atoms). This electron donation usually occurs in covalent or coordinate bonds, influencing the molecule's reactivity and properties. Donor atoms often contain lone pairs of electrons, making them capable of sharing electrons to help form stable compounds.
