Donbas

Donbas is a region in eastern Ukraine, comprising the Donetsk and Luhansk areas. Known for its heavy industry and coal mining, it has a distinct cultural identity. Since 2014, it has been the focus of conflict between Ukrainian government forces and separatist groups, who seek independence or closer ties to Russia.
