Dogra Rule

The Dogra Rule refers to the period when the Dogra dynasty, a Rajput family from the Jammu region, governed the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir from the mid-19th century until 1947. Starting with Maharaja Gulab Singh, they expanded and consolidated control over present-day Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. The Dogras maintained a monarchy with a central authority, overseeing local administration and security. Their rule was marked by modernization efforts but also by social and political complexities, culminating in the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India after independence.
