Doctrine of Duress

The Doctrine of Duress refers to a legal principle that protects individuals from being forced into agreements or actions against their will due to threats or pressure. If someone is coerced through violence, intimidation, or unlawful threats, any contract or decision made under such circumstances may be deemed invalid. Essentially, if a person can prove they were compelled to act because of fear for their safety or another's safety, the law acknowledges that their consent wasn't truly voluntary, ensuring that justice prevails over coercion.
