Docklands Development Corporation (DDC)

The Docklands Development Corporation (DDC) was a public body established in 1988 to regenerate London's Docklands area. Its goal was to revitalize a previously neglected, industrial zone into a modern commercial, residential, and leisure district. The DDC coordinated infrastructure improvements, encouraged investment, and managed urban planning, helping transform the area into a vibrant part of London. It operated until 1998, after which development responsibilities were transferred to other agencies. The DDC played a key role in creating attractions like Canary Wharf and modern housing, significantly contributing to the area's economic growth and urban renewal.
