Djabugay

The Djabugay are an Indigenous Australian people from the rainforest regions of far northeastern Queensland. Their culture is deeply connected to the land, forests, and waterways, which are central to their traditions, stories, and identity. The Djabugay language is part of the Pama–Nyungan language family, though efforts are ongoing to preserve it. They have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional practices, art, and ceremonies. Today, the Djabugay community actively works to preserve their cultural heritage, engage with land management, and sustain their language and customs for future generations.
