Diverticulitis Surgery

Diverticulitis surgery is a procedure performed to treat inflamed pouches (diverticula) that can form in the colon. If these pouches become infected or cause severe complications, surgery may be necessary to remove the affected section of the intestine. This can involve either a partial colectomy (removing part of the colon) or a more extensive procedure if complications arise. The goal is to relieve symptoms, prevent future problems, and improve overall digestive health. Recovery may require a brief hospital stay and a temporary dietary adjustment, but many patients return to normal activities afterward.
