Divergent Strabismus

Divergent strabismus, also known as exotropia, is a condition where one or both eyes turn outward away from the nose. This misalignment can happen intermittently or constantly and might cause blurred or double vision, especially when focusing on objects at certain distances. It occurs when the eye muscles that control eye movement are imbalanced, dysfunctional, or weak. While common in children, it can also affect adults. Treatment options include glasses, vision therapy, or surgery to realign the eyes, helping improve vision and binocular function.
