Diver's disease
Diver's disease, also known as decompression sickness, occurs when a diver ascends too quickly, causing dissolved gases (mainly nitrogen) in their bloodstream to form bubbles. These bubbles can block blood flow and damage tissues, leading to symptoms like joint pain, dizziness, fatigue, and in severe cases, neurological issues or paralysis. Proper gradual ascent and safety stops during decompression help prevent this condition. It’s a medical emergency that requires prompt treatment, typically with oxygen therapy and recompression in a specialized facility.
