Distributed Temperature Sensors

Distributed Temperature Sensors (DTS) are systems that measure temperature along the entire length of a single, continuous fiber optic cable. By sending laser pulses through the fiber, the system detects tiny light signals scattered back from imperfections or special markers within the cable, which vary with temperature. This allows for real-time, high-resolution temperature monitoring over long distances—often kilometers—without needing multiple sensors. DTS is used in applications like pipeline monitoring, fire detection, and industrial processes, providing accurate, continuous temperature data to help ensure safety, efficiency, and early problem detection.
