dissections
A dissection is a serious medical condition where a tear develops in the inner layer of an artery wall, causing blood to flow between the layers of the artery. This can create a false channel or pathway, which may block blood flow or weaken the artery, risking rupture. Dissections often cause sudden, severe pain and require prompt diagnosis and treatment. They commonly occur in the aorta, the main artery carrying blood from the heart, but can happen in other arteries as well. Managing a dissection involves controlling blood pressure and, in some cases, surgical intervention.
