Disk Caching

Disk caching is a performance feature where a small amount of fast memory (cache) temporarily stores frequently accessed data from the hard drive. When you open a file or program, the system first checks this cache. If the data is there, it loads quickly, reducing wait times. This process minimizes the slower task of reading from the main hard drive repeatedly, improving overall speed and efficiency. Essentially, disk caching acts like a quick-access workspace, helping your computer respond more swiftly to common tasks without constantly accessing the slower disk storage.
