Discovery Rule

The Discovery Rule is a legal principle that postpones the start of the time limit for filing a lawsuit until the injured party discovers, or reasonably should have discovered, the harm or injury. This means that if someone is harmed but doesn’t realize it immediately—due to circumstances like hidden injuries or fraud—they still have the right to bring a lawsuit once they become aware of the issue. Essentially, it ensures that individuals aren't unfairly barred from seeking justice simply because they weren’t aware of the damage at the time it occurred.
