Discogram
A discogram is a diagnostic procedure used to identify problematic discs in the spine that may be causing pain. During the test, a doctor inserts a thin needle into the affected disc(s) under imaging guidance, such as X-ray or CT scan. A small amount of contrast dye is then injected to evaluate the disc's internal structure and to reproduce symptoms. If the injection causes pain similar to the patient's usual discomfort, it suggests that the disc is a source of the pain. This procedure helps determine whether a specific disc is responsible for chronic back pain when other tests are inconclusive.
