Discogenic pain

Discogenic pain originates from the intervertebral discs—the soft, gel-like cushions between your spinal bones. When these discs experience damage, degeneration, or wear, they can irritate surrounding nerves or create inflammation, leading to pain. This type of pain is often felt as a deep, localized discomfort in the back or neck and may worsen with activities that increase spinal pressure, such as bending or lifting. Sometimes, disc problems can also cause pain that radiates to other areas. Managing discogenic pain typically involves physical therapy, pain management, and, in some cases, medical procedures or surgery.
