Dirigible

A dirigible is a type of airship that is able to navigate through the air under its own power, thanks to engines and a framework that maintains its shape. Unlike balloons that rely solely on buoyant gases, dirigibles have a rigid or semi-rigid structure, allowing them to carry passengers or cargo more efficiently over long distances. They are filled with lighter-than-air gases like helium or historically, hydrogen, which provide lift. Dirigibles can be steered and controlled, making them useful for transportation, reconnaissance, and advertising. They represent an important step in the development of aerial vehicles.
