Directory-Based Systems
Directory-based systems are a method for managing how files are shared among computers in a network. Instead of each computer keeping its own list of shared resources, there's a central directory—a specialized database—that keeps track of who can access which files and where they are located. When a user needs a file, their computer checks the directory to find and access it. This setup simplifies managing shared resources, especially in large networks, by providing a single, organized record of shared files and permissions, improving efficiency and security.
