Direct-fire weaponry

Direct-fire weaponry refers to weapons designed to shoot projectiles directly at a target that is within visual or line-of-sight range. Examples include rifles, machine guns, tanks' main guns, and artillery. These weapons require the operator to aim directly at the target, often using sights or scopes. They are effective for engaging enemies at relatively close to medium distances, providing immediate and precise firepower. Unlike indirect fire weapons—like mortars or artillery shells launched over obstacles—direct-fire systems are used when the target is visible and accurate, enabling soldiers or vehicles to quickly respond during combat.
